Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Lead to drive quality engineering initiatives for our DATAstream platform, built on modern cloud-based data architecture. This role will lead end-to-end testing strategy, governance, and execution across data ingestion, transformation, and reporting layers leveraging Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Power BI.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data platform testing, automation frameworks, and leadership, with the ability to define scalable QA processes and mentor distributed teams.
Responsibilities
- Test Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement enterprise-wide test strategy, standards, and governance for DATAstream platform.
- Lead and manage a team of QA engineers (onshore/offshore), ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Act as the QA SME for all data engineering and analytics initiatives.
- Data & ETL Testing
- Oversee validation of ETL/ELT pipelines built using Azure Data Factory and Synapse.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and reconciliation across multiple source systems.
- Define and implement data validation frameworks, including automated reconciliation and anomaly detection.
- Automation & Tools
- Design and implement test automation frameworks for data pipelines and reporting layers.
- Leverage tools such as Python, SQL, Selenium (for UI), and data testing tools like Great Expectations or equivalent.
- Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).
- Reporting & Analytics Validation
- Validate Power BI dashboards and reports for data accuracy, performance, and usability.
- Ensure alignment between business logic and data transformations.
- Performance & Security Testing
- Drive performance testing for large-scale data processing systems.
- Ensure compliance with data security, governance, and regulatory standards.
- Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders.
- Provide regular reporting on quality metrics, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in Software Testing / QA, with at least 5+ years in data platform testing.
- Strong experience with:
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- SQL and database testing (SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.)
- Proven experience in test automation for data pipelines.
- Expertise in ETL/ELT validation, data warehousing concepts, and data modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Python or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.).
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
Preferred
- Experience working with DATAstream or similar enterprise data platforms.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, or big data ecosystems.
- Exposure to data governance and compliance frameworks.
- Certifications in Azure (e.g., DP-203) or testing frameworks.
- Experience in healthcare/pharma data domains (nice to have).
