Role Summary

The Associate Director, Salesforce Clinical & Patient Services leads Slipstream’s Clinical & Patient Services solution area within the Salesforce Practice. This is a senior, hands-on leader who blends Salesforce architecture, business analysis, and engagement leadership to design and deliver patient services, hub services, patient support program (PSP), and clinical operations solutions for pharma and biotech clients. The role owns solution direction, delivery quality, and the technical reference architecture for the Clinical & Patient Services portfolio, while also serving as the senior client-facing leader on strategic engagements. The role partners closely with the VP of Salesforce Practice on practice growth, hiring, certifications, presales, and partner co-sell with Salesforce HLS. This role has both individual contributor responsibilities (lead architect on engagements) and leadership responsibilities (mentoring architects/BAs, growing the practice). Limited travel 10% or less. Fully remote.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own Slipstream’s Clinical & Patient Services solution offering, including go-to-market positioning, reusable accelerators, delivery methodology, and reference architecture across Patient Services, Patient Support Programs (PSPs), Hub Services, and Clinical Operations use cases.
  • Serve as lead Salesforce architect on Clinical & Patient Services engagements, owning end-to-end solution design across Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud (Patient Services), Health Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud / Data 360, and MuleSoft.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across data model design, security and PHI handling, integration architecture (specialty pharmacy, hubs, EHR, payer, benefits verification, copay), and patient/HCP portal experiences.
  • Lead client discovery, business analysis, and requirements definition with brand, market access, patient services, clinical operations, medical, and IT stakeholders—translating clinical and commercial objectives into pragmatic, validated solution designs.
  • Lead and run client engagements end-to-end, including scope definition, delivery planning, cross-team coordination, executive stakeholder management, risk and decision tracking, and program governance.
  • Partner with the VP of Salesforce Practice on the Clinical & Patient Services roadmap, including capability investment, certification planning, hiring, and partner co-sell with Salesforce HLS.
  • Mentor and grow architects, business analysts, and engagement leads on the Clinical & Patient Services team, including design reviews, code reviews, and delivery quality oversight.
  • Lead presales and solutioning for Clinical & Patient Services pursuits, including SOW development, level-of-effort estimation, response to RFx, and client presentations.
  • Drive delivery quality across requirements, design, build, validation, and launch—including documentation, traceability, change control, and validation discipline appropriate to regulated life sciences environments.
  • Establish reference architectures and patterns for common Clinical & Patient Services scenarios: patient enrollment and onboarding, benefits verification and prior authorization, hub case management, adherence and refill management, field reimbursement, nurse case management, and patient/caregiver engagement.
  • Partner with Marketing Cloud, MuleSoft, OneTrust, and Data Cloud leads to deliver integrated, omnichannel patient and HCP experiences with consent, privacy, and compliance by design.
  • Stay ahead of the Salesforce HLS roadmap (Life Sciences Cloud, Health Cloud, Agentforce for HLS, Data Cloud) and translate platform direction into client recommendations and Slipstream investment decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Salesforce ecosystem experience, including 5+ years in a hands-on Salesforce architect role.
  • Required pharma, biotech, healthcare, or life sciences industry experience—with direct delivery experience in Patient Services, Patient Support Programs, Hub Services, or Clinical Operations.
  • Required hands-on architectural experience with Salesforce Health Cloud and/or Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud (Patient Services), including data model, security model, and integration design.
  • Required experience as a Salesforce Business Analyst or in a hybrid architect/BA capacity, including discovery facilitation, requirements documentation, user story writing, and process design.
  • Required experience leading client engagements as the senior client-facing technical or delivery lead, including executive stakeholder management, scope and risk management, and delivery oversight.
  • Strong experience designing integrations across Salesforce, MuleSoft, EHR/EMR, specialty pharmacy, hub vendors, payer/clearinghouse, and patient-facing channels.
  • Strong understanding of PHI, HIPAA, consent, and regulated delivery practices, including documentation quality, traceability, and change control.
  • Salesforce certifications required: Salesforce Application Architect or System Architect (or equivalent component certifications such as Sharing & Visibility, Data Architect, Integration Architect, Identity & Access Management Architect).
  • Experience leading and mentoring architects, BAs, and delivery teams in a consulting, systems integrator, or professional services environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead executive workshops, present solution architecture, and represent Slipstream in client and partner forums.
